Nagahama Railway Square
The former Nagahama Station Building is the oldest station building still in existence in Japan. The Nagahama Railway Culture Museum exhibits valuable railroad materials. There is also a children's toy and picture book corner, and an HO-gauge model train driving corner that simulates the current Nagahama Station area. At the Hokuriku Line Electrification Memorial Hall, two historic cars that were active on the Hokuriku Line are on display. The D51 class steam locomotive, especially popular with children, and the ED70 class AC electric locomotive, which was introduced after the electrification, can be enjoyed up close, and visitors can even sit in the driver's seat.
